Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes

I have some exciting news!  No, baby Ezekiel did not come early – We still have a little bit over 5 weeks to go.  But, there’s something else really exciting that’s going on.  WE FINALLY GOT A HOUSE!  Just last week we found the perfect house.  Were in Escrow right now and should close mid/end September.  {Which just means that's when we get the house and move in.}  So, if your counting along, that's literally 2 weeks before Ezekiel’s due date!  I know – we pushed it super, super close.  But, I’ll tell you this, house hunting is not easy.  Not one bit.  There were many ups and downs, but there is nothing like finding that perfect home and getting the final acceptance.  We have been dreaming and praying for a house for such a long time and finally our time is here!

We’ll celebrate with these cupcakes!  These cupcakes are my favorite Chocolate Cupcakes filled with Peanut Butter chips and topped with a creamy Peanut Butter Buttercream.  The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is a favorite of mine and I especially love it in cupcake form.  I was trying to get the taste of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup into a cupcake {without actually using Reese's} and I’m pretty sure I hit it perfectly!

Trix Treats

There’s no surprise that I’m a girl who loves color.  I love color in my wardrobe, my décor, and even my food.  So when I see a colorful dessert I’m immediately intrigued.

I saw these Trix Treats on Pinterest a while ago.  I pin so many recipes on Pinterest and rarely ever go back and make them.  But one day I decided to go through all my dessert boards and pick a dessert to make – These were the winner.  It was the color that drew me in :).

These are just like Rice Krispie Treats, but instead of using Rice Krispie Cereal you use Trix Cereal.  Trix cereal is sugary and fruity so it makes a perfect treat when mixed with marshmallows.

Enjoy these fun and colorful treats!

Cinnamon Roll Scones

Am I the only one that immediately craves a Cinnamon Roll when I walk by Cinnabon in the mall?  The smell is just so enticing.  Luckily for my waistline, I haven’t actually broke down and got one in a few years.  But that craving does have me going home and making something sweet for myself.

When I was contacted to participate in a contest involving 2 new Cinnabon products - Sprinkle Cinnamon Roll Topping and Cinnamon Roll Syrup – I immediately knew I wanted to participate.  I love trying new products, especially when they allow me to bring the flavors of Cinnabon into my home.

What I came up with is these Cinnamon Roll Scones.  Instead of using a yeasted dough, I used my favorite scone recipe to create cinnamon rolls.  Inside the scones, I slathered a thick layer of the cinnamon roll syrup on top of the dough, and then sprinkled a generous amount of sprinkle topping on top.  After cutting the rolls, I placed them on top of a bed of brown sugar and more cinnamon roll syrup.  The result was a gooey, soft, tender, and sweet Cinnabon Roll.

Feel free to visit the Cinnabon Facebook page to look at these new items.  And while your add it, like their page :).

My husband and I couldn’t stop eating these scones.  We seriously kept going back for more.  Trust me on this one and make these scones for yourself!

One exciting part of this contest is if I win a lucky reader will also win!  So let's cross our fingers :).

Disclosure:  I received the Cinnabon® products used and was entered for a chance to win aCinnabon Creations prize package in exchange for this post.  No monetary exchange took place.  All opinions are my own.

Pregnancy Update - 32 Weeks

Less than 8 weeks to go until our little boy arrives!  I can’t believe it.  My mind has been totally baby-focused.  All I can think about is when he arrives.  Will he be early?  Late?  Right on time?  And because were right in the middle of house hunting –- Will we have a house before he comes?  All these things are running through my head.

A couple weeks ago we went to a 3D Ultrasound to see our little Ezekiel.  We haven’t seen him ever since 18 weeks, so we were very anxious.  It truly was an amazing experience.  It was so crazy to see him look so much like a baby.  I know that sounds weird, but this ultrasound shows everything.  You can see for yourself below :).

In the ultrasound they told us he was 4.1 pounds, which is about 10 days ahead of schedule.  He was supposed to be almost 3 pounds at 30 weeks and he was already 1 pound over that!  All I know is this boy is not going to be tiny.

Because we don’t have a house yet I haven’t been able to set up his nursery, but I have been able to help set up his room at my parents when Ezekiel comes and stays with Grandma and Grandpa.  The room is so incredibly cute!  I’ll show you pictures when it’s all done :).  I also have been helping with some details of the baby shower.  I know that people think that I shouldn’t be involved in my own baby shower, but I love planning parties so much I just can’t help myself!  The shower is only a few weeks away and it’s going to be so much fun.  The theme is polka dots and the colors are fun and colorful.  I’m sure I’ll do a post on the whole shower, but here’s a little sneak peak at the invitations.

I’m also completely obsessed with getting stuff for little Ezekiel.  We had so much fun registering at both and Babies R Us and I can’t wait to see what we get!  Of course we're buying things on our own, like these adorable burp cloths.  I can only imagine how crazy I’ll go with buying things when he actually arrives!

As far as how I’m feeling, I truly feel great!  Yes, it’s hard to be comfortable while sleeping.  Yes, sometimes I have to catch my breath because my lungs can’t fully expand.  Yes, my back hurts because my belly is just getting so big.  Yes, I’m about to hit the point where I’ll start to waddle around instead of walk.  Yes, I wake up screaming in the middle of the night because I get a horrible calf cramp.  Yes, heartburn is not just a little pain while pregnant, it’s a huge stomach ache.   Yes, bending over is almost impossible at this point.  BUT, it really isn’t’ as bad as it sounds.  Everything is completely worth and it’s only a temporary feeling.  I’m not sick of being pregnant and am so blessed to have had such a great pregnancy.

Be back tomorrow with a recipe!

Oh, and I'll post another picture of myself soon.  Every time I'm actually dressed up, I forget to take a picture.  I'm in pajamas now, so it wouldn't be too cute of a pregnancy picture.  But I''ll take one soon and post it asap :).

Homemade Hostess Cupcakes

Earlier this week I showed you how easy it is to make homemade Marshmallow Creme.  Now when you need to use Marshmallow Creme to for a recipe, there is no need to run to store.  And for these Homemade Hostess Cupcakes you’ll need Marshmallow Creme, so bust out your mixer and start making some!

Over the weekend we had some really close family friends over.  I’ve known Jackie ever since I was about 8 years old.  She was pretty much an older sister to me.  {On a side note, Jackie is an amazing photographer!  She shot our wedding as well as our maternity photo shoot.  You can see some of her stuff here – Can you spot my husband and I in some of the pics?}

So when we planned to have her and her family over for dinner I knew I wanted to make something special for dessert.  She has 2 cute little girls so dessert needed to be both adult friendly and kid friendly.  That’s when I decided to make these Homemade Hostess Cupcakes.  Everyone loves a good chocolate cupcake, and the nostalgic, kid-loving Hostess Cupcake appeals to all ages.

These would also be great to serve at a kid’s party, or even a fun grown-up gathering.  Enjoy!

Homemade Marshmallow Creme

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a sweet treat for you today.  It’s not necessarily a straight-up dessert, but it’s a recipe that will I’m sure you will get lots of use out of.  Marshmallow Creme is one of those items that most people don’t think twice about purchasing it from the store.  It’s just so easy to buy store-bought that you never really think about making it homemade.  But, making Marshmallow Cream at home really couldn’t be easier!  And, to tell you the truth, it tastes so much better than the store-bought version.

This recipe can be used in endless recipes.  At the end of the week I’ll show you a perfect recipe to use this in :).  Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Banana Hand Pies

I know, I know.  Your probably about to give up on Krissy’s Creations.  But, please, please don’t!  I know I’ve missed a couple days of normal blogging, but I promise I’m here to stay – I’m not going anywhere – this blog is not taking a back seat.  It’s just been a crazy last couple weeks.  Other than the normal pregnancy stuff {I’m already 30 weeks!}, it feels like my life has been consumed with something other than being pregnant – House hunting!  Yes, I have some very exciting news, my husband and I are finally starting to search for a house.  For the past 3 weeks or so, we have been actively looking for a home for our new, growing family.  And I have faith the right home is just around the corner!  We’ll have one very, very soon :).

Since pregnancy and house hunting have been totally consuming my life, I haven’t been in the kitchen baking as much as I normally would be.  But this week I’ll start back up again.

One creation I whipped up a few weeks ago are these Peanut Butter Banana Hand Pies.  They are my favorite, signature flaky pie crust, filled with creamy peanut butter and a slice of banana.  Plus to make them even more special, I’ve made them as cute, little, hand-held pies.  Peanut Butter and Banana is becoming a raging flavor combination, and these pies are a great way to highlight these flavors.
