Milk Bar Mondays - Crack Pie



I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!  Mine was amazing!  I ate so much I don’t even want to think of how many calories I consumed.  We went to 3 Easter Parties, so our day was very long.  With such a crazy day on Sunday you think I would relax the day before.  But I did just the opposite.  I started out my day making one of the best omelets I’ve made to date – fluffy and flavorful.  Then I went on a long walk around the neighborhood.  After that I went on to bake and cook for the rest of the day, a total of about 7 hours.  Included were a special Thanksgiving Dinner, spicy deviled eggs and Strawberry Scones for Easter, and this pie!


This pie was chosen by Meagan of Scarletta Bakes for Milk Bar Mondays.  It’s called Crack Pie and is one of the most popular items at Momofuku Milk Bar.  And after making it, I can see why.  It’s such a unique pie, unlike anything I’ve ever made {or tried before}. 

Crack Pie is a combination of sweet, salty, gooey, brown-sugar-y, egg-y, dense, and incredibly rich.  Just one slice of this pie and your sent into a total sugar coma.  Of course, a well-worth-it sugar coma.  Well, well, worth it!

The more I bake from the Momofuku Milk Bar Cookbook, the more I am starting to love the salty-sweet dessert combination.  I used to not be a fan, but now I really love it.  And I hope you do too!  If not, you still have to try this pie.  It will convert you!

  2. Your pie looks amazing Krissy! I think that dense not-so-gooey texture is how the original crack pie is supposed to be. In fact- I need to go to Milk Bar this week so I can taste the actual one...in the meantime- I'll stare at yours some more. :)

  3. Yours looks so good.  It was so unique but one of the best things I've ever eaten.  I really need a trip to NYC so that I can taste the real thing!

  7. "sweet, salty, gooey, brown-sugar-y, egg-y, dense, and incredibly rich".  YES! It is all those things together, huh?  It was unlike anything I'd ever made either, hence my worries about it.  But DARN it was good.  Congrats to an incredibly productive day on top of making this!!!

  15. I saw the Momofuko people on a talk show once talking about this pie. I was curious so I printed it out but have yet to try it. After your description and beautiful photos, I need to make it!
