It’s spring and strawberry season is emerging! There’s nothing better than a juicy strawberry on a hot day!
After picking up a pack of these beautiful strawberries, I immediately thought of making something sweet and fresh with them. And a dessert that goes great with strawberries is Angel Food Cake. Angel Food Cake is sooo yummy! It is light and fluffy and is not too sweet. Because strawberries already have a natural sweetness to them, Angel Food Cake and strawberries are a perfect match.
Instead of just making an Angel Food Cake and topping it with strawberries, I thought I could create a trifle. A trifle is a layered dessert that includes fruit, cake, and whip cream or
custard.
First, I made the Angel Food Cake. This is my favorite Angel Food Cake recipe! The cake comes out so light and moist! Dare I say heavenly :). Then after the cake has cooled completely, I took a round biscuit cutter and cut out 4 rounds of cake.
Then I layered strawberries - Angel Food Cake – homemade whipped cream – more strawberries – and more whipped cream…. MMMM good!
This trifle was delightful and delicious!
